Royal Malay Regiment

Malaysian Army’s regiment comprising the mechanised infantry, light infantry and parachute infantry. It was formed by the British War Office in 1933 at the request of Malay kings a decade before. The primarily land-based regiment replaced the traditional Malay military structure formed by hereditary roles within noble houses that were heavily influenced by thalassocracy (maritime empires).
