A psychologist with a PhD in neuroscience from University College London. One of the few people that sees through Sarah Raden. Like Sarah’s grand uncle, Wak Suryo, Dr Newman can help manifest her inner thoughts into reality. Dr Newman, like Wak Suryo, is what the Radens call “the guardian of The Keeper”. He or she can control a person who possesses a great power over a family demon (or saka). But Dr Newman isn’t aware of his gift. Wak Suryo controls his cousin Karno – and the family were-tiger – in this manner. Without the guardian, a family member can go out of control. Sarah Raden makes a conscious decision to break away from Dr Newman’s supervision – a dangerous move.
